New Patients
Thank you for choosing Whole Child Pediatrics as your child's medical home, where we always provide a comfortable, caring environment so our patients and their families can feel at ease. We've included helpful items on this page to ensure you and your child's first trip to our office is productive, stress-free and enjoyable.
Prenatal Visits
We strongly encourage parents-to-be to visit our office for a prenatal appointment. This is a great way to get acquainted with our office and our doctors. During this visit, we will answer any questions that you have about our practice or your new baby. We are happy to offer this service free of charge.
Vitamin K for Newborns
Vitamin K deficiency may cause unexpected and potentially serious bleeding in previously healthy-appearing newborns and this risk can continue until an infant is several months old. As a result, administering Vitamin K to all newborns has been the standard of care since it was first recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics in 1961. http://pediatrics.aappublicati... . Before coming to our practice, all newborns must receive a vitamin K injection, which is offered at birth in the hospital.

Payment Options
Whole Child believes that ability to pay should never be an obstacle to maintaining a child's health. This is why we accept most insurance plans. If you have health insurance, sometimes there will be a small co-pay, which we are required to collect at the time of service. Under the Affordable Care Act, often no co-pay is required, especially for well visits. We also proudly accept Medicaid. For our patients who do not have health insurance, we provide vaccines free of charge through our participation in the Virginia Vaccine for Children program. There is a small administrative fee per vaccine for this service. In addition we are happy to work with you on options, including discounts and payment plans, to ensure that your child has equal access to the health care that he or she deserves.
